
The Gates of Aurora is an original video game concept that blends exploration, storytelling, and town-building into a single immersive experience. Set in a fractured world suspended between myth and memory, players embark on a journey across the mysterious Islands of Aurora. An uncharted land born from a cataclysm that reshaped the Earth itself. As a young traveler searching for their missing father, players uncover ancient secrets, forge new alliances, and rebuild a forgotten town at the edge of a world being reborn. This project was created in partnership with Jason Phan.


While illustrating the town characters, I wanted it to be easy to tell what their profession was at first glance. While each character can have an interesting backstory, their main role in the game is to provide a service to the player, thus having that service apparent in their visuals was very important. In the full game, there would be multiple illustrations of different expressions for these characters, so the style was kept simple.
