This project was to redeisgn the SGPS (School of Graduate an Professional Studies) Website. The website is unique in the fact that it is hosted separately from the main SCSU website, allowing for a different visual design. This design is limited, but responsive, thanks to the website builder being used, AVADA. The focus of the project was on better utilization of the homepage, making the website easier to naviagte and ensuring ADA compliance. Another thing to keep in mind was staying within brand guidelines.
A large portion of the project involved speaking with many administrators and graduate students to figure out what the specific needs of the populace were. The two main things were an easy to access calendar specifically for the graduate students, as an alternative from the university wide caldendar. Second, the main menu needed an full overhaul, as most users were unable to locate what they needed while using it. A very helpful source during this process was the graduate assistants working in the SGPS office, they were able to tell me what questions they get over the phones most often which helped to let me know which parts of the website were least effective.
